Kodungallur Bhagavathi Temple

Kodungallur Bhagavathi temple is the prime attraction of Kodungallur. Known also as Karumbakavu temple, Kodungallur Bhagavathi temple is dedicated to the warrior Goddess Bhagavathi.
The idol of the Goddess Bhagavathi seen in the sanctum sanctorum has eight arms and carries weapons on them. The Goddess also represents the victory she gained over the demon Daruka, whose severed head can also be seen in her arms. Among the various legends related to the temple, two most famous legends associates the Goddess with the stories of Kannagi and Daruka. Kshetrapala, Tavittu moorthi and Vasoorimala are the other deities present within the temple premises. Kodungallur Bhagavathi temple is visited by pilgrims during Kodungallur Bharani (Kaavu Theendal) and Thalappoli festivals.

Thiruvanchikulam Mahadeva Temple

Thiruvanchikulam Mahadeva temple is one of the main attractions offered by Kodungallur. This is an ancient temple which is about 2000 years old. Thiruvanchikulam Mahadeva temple is famous for the various manifestations of Lord Shiva, who is also the main deity of the temple. Koodalmanikyam Temple

Cheraman Masjid

Cheraman Masjid is one of the famous religious spots in Kodungallur. The history of this Masjid dates back to 629 AD, when Kodungallur was ruled by Cheraman Perumals. Kodungallur is believed to be the first place in India to welcome Islam religion. The Cheraman King, who ruled over the ancient port city of Muchiripattanam or Muziris, went to Arabia and embraced Islam. His death-wish was to construct a mosque at Muchiripattanam, which was carried out by the King of Jeddah. But the port city of Muchiripattanam was destroyed in the flood of 1341.

The present mosque at Kodungallur, the second masjid, is also known by the name 'Cheraman Perumal Juma Masjid.

Vadakkunnathan Temple

Vadakkumnathan Temple of Thrissur is a classic example of Kerala architecture that is soaked in beauty and exquisiteness. only 39km from aswathy hotel to vadakkunathan temple. This 1000 years old temple is surrounded by enormous stone wall and covers an area of 9 acres. The temple consists of 4 'gopurams' that face towards all the directions. Bible Tower (Puthenpalli)

The Bible Tower is situated in Thrissur city of Kerala, India. only 39 km you need to travel for watching the Puthanpally 1.5hr It was inaugurated on January 7, 2007. The tower is the tallest church tower in India and Asia. It is also the tallest structure in whole of Kerala. The 260 feet tower stands tall elegantly behind two towers of 140 feet height. The building has been certified as earthquake-proof by officials of the Geology Department of India. The red cross on the top of the Bible Tower is lit to "show the presence of the Roman Catholic Church in Thrissur." It can be seen from anywhere in the Thrissur city. In the tower we can see childhood of Christ carved in wood, healing of Jesus depicted in stained glass, miracles of Jesus in brass, sufferings of Jesus Christ in oil paints, beautiful painting of apostles in terra cotta, mural paintings of the life history of St.Thomas, and glorious resurrection of Jesus depicted in canvas.

Poomala Dam

Zoo & Museum

Thrissur Zoo & Museum, started functioning sometime in 1885 is located right at the heart of Thrissur 2km from town, around 13.5 acres of the compound with a variety of fauna like the lion tailed macaque, sloth bear, species of birds and deer. The snake park has a reptilian collection of King Cobras, Cobras, Python, Kraits, Vipers and Rat Snakes. Interestingly there is a public road across the zoo which separates the zoo into two! To reach the rear section, you need to cross an over bridge across the road.
